Cubs Triumph Over Brewers in Extra Innings Thriller

In an exhilarating game on May 28, 2024, the Chicago Cubs clinched a hard-fought 6-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in 10 innings, tying the series at one game apiece. The matchup showcased the Cubs' resilience and determination as they battled through tense moments to secure the win.

Early Momentum and Late Game Heroics

The Cubs took an early lead in the top of the 3rd inning with a solo home run by Michael Busch, sending a fly ball to center field. The game remained tight until the bottom of the 9th inning when the Brewers' Christian Yelich scored from 1st base off a single by Willy Adames, tying the game and sending it into extra innings.

In the top of the 10th inning, the Cubs exploded offensively. Luis Vazquez scored from 2nd base off Mike Tauchman's single, which deflected off pitcher Trevor Megill and was mishandled by first baseman Owen Miller. Mike Tauchman then scored from 3rd base off a single by Cody Bellinger. Seiya Suzuki and Cody Bellinger both scored off Ian Happ's double, extending the Cubs' lead. Ian Happ added another run, scoring from 2nd base off a single by Michael Busch.

The Brewers managed to score twice in the bottom of the 10th. Willy Adames scored from 3rd base off Sal Frelick's ground out, and Joey Ortiz scored from 3rd base off Owen Miller's single, but it was not enough to overcome the Cubs' lead.

Pitching Performances

The Cubs' pitching staff delivered a solid performance throughout the game. Ben Brown pitched effectively through the first 7 innings, followed by Hayden Wesneski and Mark Leiter in the 8th inning. Hector Neris handled the 9th inning, and Luke Little, along with Tyson Miller, closed out the game in the 10th inning.

For the Brewers, Freddy Peralta started strong, pitching through the 6th inning. The bullpen, including Jared Koenig, Enoli Paredes, Joel Payamps, Elvis Peguero, Trevor Megill, Hoby Milner, and Mitch White, struggled to contain the Cubs' late offensive surge.

Decisive Games in the Series

With the series now tied at one game each, the Cubs and Brewers will continue to battle it out in the remaining games of the series. The Cubs will aim to build on their momentum from this thrilling victory, while the Brewers will look to regroup and defend their home turf.

This dramatic win highlights the Cubs' tenacity and ability to perform under pressure, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the series.
