Chicago Fire Fall to Orlando City in High-Scoring Clash



In a thrilling encounter at Soldier Field, the Chicago Fire succumbed to a 2-4 defeat against Orlando City. The game, which extended into an intense 90+10 minutes, saw the Fire struggling to recover from a series of early setbacks.


Orlando's Dominance in the First Half

Orlando City took an early lead in the 4th minute with a goal from Facundo Torres. The pressure continued, and by the 20th minute, Luis Muriel had doubled the lead with a penalty goal. Just nine minutes later, Ivan Angulo made it 3-0, putting the Fire in a tough position. Despite having 60% possession and a high pass accuracy of 90%, the Fire were unable to break down Orlando’s defense effectively in the first half.

The second half saw a more determined Chicago Fire side. Maren Haile-Selassie converted a penalty in the 53rd minute, providing a glimmer of hope for the home team. However, Orlando quickly responded, with Torres scoring his second goal in the 60th minute, extending the lead to 4-1. Hugo Cuypers, who had been a pivotal player for the Fire, managed to find the net in the 69th minute, bringing the score to 4-2. Cuypers' effort came despite him receiving a yellow card just after the break in the 46th minute.
